The Lead Warehouse Associate works closely with the Warehouse Manager to ensure the warehouse is organized, accuracy of inventory tracking, quality order preparation, and efficient utilization of company vehicles. The role utilizes various computer programs. Safety is a top priority, and the position maintains standards regarding legislation and policies & procedures. The Lead Warehouse Associate demonstrates BGIS values in communicating with clients and other team members.

Salary range: $19 - $21 / hour

RESPONSIBILITIES

Warehouse Activities 

  • Assist with tracking of all inventory in warehouse.
  • Ensure quality of orders prepared by verifying established processes followed to complete requests and supply orders and pulling of correct materials.
  • Use various programs to order, track, receive, and transfer inventory accordingly.
  • Package boxes and place orders in delivery area meeting required time frames. 
  • Organize warehouse for efficiency, cleaning, and safety compliance with all rules and regulations. 
  • Communicate standards for a safe and clean work environment keeping shelves, pallet area, shipping supply area, and workstations neat.
  • Train other team members on how to meet quality service by following organization standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on key warehouse equipment. 
  • Audit reports to ensure required data and information is entered accurately. 
  • Work with manger to complete specific warehouse duty requests.
  • Complete other light maintenance tasks assigned such as changing return filters, checking fire extinguishers, running errands, and sweeping maintenance areas. 
  • Focus on team effort to accomplish targeted results in quality manner. 
  • Perform recycling duties throughout the warehouse following established processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.

Driving Activities

  • Complete deliveries by driving non-DOT company truck or van to and from vendor locations. 
  • Take company vehicles in for service calls. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of company vehicles interior and exterior. 
  • Follow all safety laws when driving and maneuver through traffic in a courteous manner. 

Required Education, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical school or advanced education is a plus.
  • Minimum 1-year prior experience in a warehouse or similar work environment.
  • Consistent dependability to arrive at warehouse or specific work site as scheduled. 
  • Experience operating forklifts and current forklift license.
  • Ability to perform light maintenance tasks. 
  • Focus to complete repetitive tasks and meet quality standards. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. 
  • Reasoning ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, diagrams, and memos.
  • Reporting, inventory control and documentation skills. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA guidelines. 
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment used within the warehouse. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to write simple correspondence and share information with clients and team members. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also to contribute positively to teamwork sharing knowledge and best practices with others. 
  • Organization, planning and time management skills to prioritize daily work activities to ensure team completes assignments within specific time frames meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office computer program.
  • Able to climb and descend ladders while carrying up to 30 lbs., lift up to 75 lbs. and maneuver in confined spaces i.e., crawlspaces, attics, etc.
  • Must be able and willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) any concerns with this requirement.
